In a bid to reduce the problem of plastic waste across Africa, a number of international consumer goods companies operating across the continent came together to launch the Africa Plastics Recycling Alliance today.

El sistema de producción capitalista actual genera grandes cantidades de residuos. A diferencia de la biosfera en la que se sigue un modelo de ciclos que no producen residuos nuestra civilización sigue un modelo lineal recordemos que se ha calculado que usamos unas 50 toneladas de materiales per cápita anualmente, de los cuales 2 toneladas terminan como productos finales que finalmente terminaran como residuos.

In 2000 I asked the city street department if we could have a couple loads of leaves and they’ve brought an average 400 truck loads of street leaves every fall since, because Bruce Reed has never accepted street leaves and wet leaves don’t burn.

For years, Ed and Dale Hubbard used worms to turn organic waste into “black gold.”
Their vermicomposting firm, Nature’s Little Recyclers, had three locations churning out rich, coveted compost they could sell. Their clients included the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, as well as Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Park District.
