Compost application enhances soil quality, growth, and yield of durum wheat under saline conditions – Scientific Reports

Green waste compost offers promising solutions for agricultural sustainability in salt-stressed environments. Research demonstrates that applying compost at 30 t ha⁻¹ increased wheat grain yield by 31.58% under moderate salinity conditions, while significantly improving soil fertility through enhanced potassium and calcium availability. This sustainable approach not only mitigates salinity stress but also reduces dependency on chemical fertilizers, presenting a viable strategy for maintaining food security in arid regions.
