Eternal waste

Plastic has infiltrated every aspect of our existence—from our first moments of life to the depths of our oceans and the heights of our mountains. With global production exceeding 460 million tonnes annually and projected to reach 1,200 Mt by 2060, less than 10 percent is recycled while approximately 20 Mt ends up in landfills or water bodies. As nations gather in Geneva to negotiate a binding treaty addressing the full lifecycle of plastic, a showdown looms between countries demanding production caps and fossil fuel producers advocating only for improved waste management.
