The quality of life in urban and rural areas is being lowered by the
illegal disposal of waste, including fly tipping. This anti social behaviour
is adversely affecting the amenity of our local environments and
reducing civic pride. Too often, people come across unsightly, illegal
dumps that have appeared in their street, in their community and on
their land. At its worst, fly tipping can lead to serious pollution of the
environment and harm to human health. It can cost innocent victims of
fly tipping and public bodies such as local authorities and the
Environment Agency, large amounts of money to remove the waste.
Fly tipping can also undermine legitimate waste management
businesses activities
