Solid waste management India – Growing market with big potential
India`s urban population generates about 50 million metric tons of waste per year which is 115 000 metric tons a day – tendency increasing. A volume posing an enormous challenge for the country with its insufficient waste management system. Negative effects can be noticed especially in the big cities in terms of bad ground water and soil quality and the spread of diseases. Within the framework of the “Clean India mission” the Indian government is now looking for reliable and sustainable solutions. An interesting opportunity for foreign stakeholders to enter the growing Indian environmental market.
At this year`s IFAT India, a German business delegation will gain interesting insights into the Indian waste industry while participating in the fair`s supporting program. The delegation will take part in a workshop about municipal solid waste management to gain information about investment and incentive possibilities and to tie first business contacts within the branch.
