LFG to Liquid Methane with CO2 WashT Process

LNG production requires recovery of pure CH4 from LFG. Additional CO2 must be removed from clean methane product after CO2 WashT (B) to prevent solid CO2 formation during methane liquefaction.

Two Air Liquide (MEDAL), membranes connected in series and operating at 200 psig reduce the CO2 concentration from 30% to 50 ppm. For production of test quantites of LNG, methane is liquefied with LIN.

Below are pictures of membrane skid, cold box and dewar filled with liquid methane.

Acrion’s CO2 WashT processing skid with auxiliary equipment is shown below.

Liquid methane recovered from landfill gas was analyzed at Atlantic Analytical Laboratory, Whitehouse, NJ. Gas Analysis Report is available in.pdf format.
