Yorkshire Forward, the Regional Development Agency for Yorkshire and Humber, with European Funders, is seeking a private sector partner to develop and implement a Regional Market Development (or ‘ReMade’) Programme for Recyclable Materials
This new programme aims to:
support the development and expansion of regional collection and reprocessing capacity and develop new markets for recyclates
ensure that an additional 580 000 tonnes of waste is recycled over the three year funding period
contribute to the Region’s targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions, create new jobs and business opportunities within the industry and stimulate private sector investment within the sector.
create a Centre of Excellence with a small, dedicated team to work across the supply chain (collection, reprocessing, manufacture, end markets and procurement)
Private sector partners are required to set up and drive forward the Centre of Excellence, playing a key role in the delivery of the market development programme. Yorkshire Forward would also welcome alternative innovative ideas and solutions that would attain the goals of the programme.
Expressions of interest are sought from consortia/consultants with expertise in waste/recycling, social enterprise, regeneration, economic development and inward investment. Yorkshire Forward would like to draw on expertise and experience within and outside the UK to bring existing best practice and technology to the Yorkshire and Humber region.
Short listed firms will be put forward to formal tender and may be asked for interview. It is envisaged that the partner will be in place by January 2004 for an initial 3-year period. This tender is in accordance with OJEC requirements.
