Brazil is the first country in South America to implementing a legislation to cope with the
health and environmental problems caused by the batteries.
This article points out the reasons why batteries, tiny little devices, may cause
environmental and human health impacts. Also we discuss the public authority concerns
about this fact. Besides that, we present an outline about the Brazilian legislation that
rules such issues as well as the reasons why the legislation can fail in protecting the
environment.
