Solar ovens from PET bottles

NAPCOR – the National Association for PET Container Resources (the
trade association for the PET plastic industry in the United States and
Canada) has worked with the Solar Oven Society, a project of the
non-profit organization Persons Helping People, to manufacture
low-cost, durable, effective solar ovens designed for use in developing
countries.

Countries that are sun-rich, but fuel-poor can utilize the ovens to
cook meats, vegetables, breads and staple-foods, as well as pasteurize
water.

The ovens were made from recycled PET plastic beer bottles from the
2000 National Recycling Coalition’s (NRC) Annual Congress in Charlotte,
North Carolina. The containers were collected from hospitality suites,
NRC functions, the opening night reception and annual softball game. In
addition, beer bottles recycled from Ericsson Stadium (Charlotte, NC)
were also used for production.

Approximately 65 20-oz. PET plastic bottles (5 lbs.) are used to make

I believe it will be necessary to review contracts, create performance-based remuneration mechanisms, and pay for both effectively sorted materials and those diverted from landfills - he added. According to the IBGE, 60.5% of Brazilian municipalities adopt some form of selective waste collection, and several initiatives serve as examples of how to manage city waste.
