Sustainable Battery Waste Management (Case Study of Indonesia)

This case study is the Thesis of Cynthia Viriyadhika, who worked as an intern at WASTE on options for battery recycling in Indonesia.

She questioned what possible measures could be applied to manage waste batteries in a sustainable way protecting the environment, and to create safe employment in Micro and Small Enterprises (MSE) within the Indonesian context. As reference she looked at the battery recycling in the Netherlands, Japan, Brasil and Bangladesh. Realising that these policies can not be transferred Indonesia just like that, she came up with some suggestions to first start raising awareness via the bottom up approach.
