Dane County’s new food scrap collection program has already enrolled over 1,000 households and diverted more than 50 tons of waste from landfills. “This program is about climate action that starts at home,” says County Executive Melissa Agard, highlighting how it reduces methane emissions while creating valuable compost through public-private collaboration with local processor Purple Cow Organics.
