Moving waste management forward

I PARK1, Hong Kong’s first waste-to-energy plant built on an artificial island near Shek Kwu Chau, marks a significant advancement in the city’s sustainable waste management strategy. Once fully operational, this innovative facility will process up to 3,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste daily while generating approximately 480 million kilowatt-hours of surplus electricity annually—enough to power 100,000 households and substantially reduce landfill dependence.
