Finland lags behind EU waste recycling targets, with almost one-third of household garbage being organic biowaste that could be recycled. Despite separate composting being available since 1993, too many Finns still toss food waste into general bins, jeopardizing the country’s ability to meet the EU’s upcoming 60 percent recycling requirement by 2030.
